Blog Entry #8 I Got Fired!!!!!
On Monday I headed back to San Blas with two friends/neighbours from here who had never been to there before. We caught the bus and headed north. We stayed at the lovely Hacienda Flamingos and discovered that with our three night stay we got a fourth for free so we took advantage of that perk. This was great fun for me as I got to play tourist again or maybe this time tourist guide.
First thing Tuesday morning we walked to the market for liquados and torta combinado which is a Canadian equivalent to a smoothy and a bun like sandwich with everything in it. I asked for no chilies. Got them and survived!!! Next it was a taxi to La Trobara. This is a mangrove swamp area with many bird species. People come from all over the world to look at birds here. San Blas is on a migratory bird way.
I was last in La Trobara about 5 years ago and since then the mangrove have grown over the water ways and have been shaped into these spooky tunnels. I was glad for once that Ray wasn't there as he would have been telling me to look out for snakes falling from above into the boat. Funny after all these years, he was still with me although not in body!!!! I could still hear him and kept alert for surprises from above!!!
I think if you take a thousand pictures one will be outstanding. This is mine!!!
After La Trobara, we were just on the outskirts of San Blas when I remembered the old fort. Our accommodating taxi driver took a left and wow what a fabulous view!!! San Blas has estuaries to the north and south. You can see the north one here and then the ocean. I just love this town!!!
This stately old church is on the same grounds as the fort. There are old grave stones outside leaning up against the wall. It reminded me of the Follett books. Pillars of the Earth etc.
This is one of those times when blogger won't let me do what I want to do!!! Below are the oysters Joy and I ate in Miramar. She made me do it!!!!
It is my understanding that when you have a problem within your church the proper way to deal with it is to first speak to the minister so when I had had enough of the rock and roll Jesus music I spoke to him. Now, one must remember that two of his kids are in this noisy screaming group. Next, I spoke to his wife also considered a pastor in this church as she drove me home from Punta de Mita. She had said and done some things that indicated to me that she was anti gay so I brought that up. Might as well!!! I told her of my view on it and then all was quiet for the rest of the way home.
The next Sunday there was a sermon indicating that one must follow and go along with the leadership of the church. Interesting. Glad I didn't have to stand and be flogged!!!! That was my last Sunday at church. Then, I'm having breakfast all by myself and voila there they are. We missed you at church you must come this Sunday. No, sorry not going to be there. Don't like the music or the gay stand. She told me not to be so rebellious. Moi????? Next there was an email - Thanks for helping. We don't need you any more as we are cancelling your classes. I don't think I have ever been fired before but I think it is ok with me!!!!!!!
